My Music Site

March 26, 2008

A new website has been launched to compete with iTunes and other online music retailers. “MyMusic Site” allows users to sell their music at a price they set, as well as creating ringtones. From their “About” section -

“MyMusicSite.com helps YOU the independent artist sell your own music. You can sell individual songs, albums or even have your fans, friends and family be able to instantly create ringtones for your original music. MyMusicSite.com is a website for musicians and artists to sell their own independent music online via downloads and ringtones in addition to providing several “marketing tools” for users.

MyMusicSite.com enables producers to sell their own music tracks. Tracks can be licensed for use (non exclusive – other people can purchase and use the same track) or purchased for exclusive rights (only one purchaser – track cannot be resold by producer). Producers set their own sales price based on what they feel the value of the track is.”

This is a far cry from the strict rules and low profit margins for artists who sell on iTunes, and a good digital equivalent to the already popular CDBaby.

Thanks for the cd websites, I’ve already found some new music I like. You should do an in depth post on iTunes.
